Tennent’s Lager is toasting the success of The Airlie Arms Hotel, which was named as pouring Scotland’s best pint at the 2016 SLTN Awards, by gifting the bar a bespoke Tennent’s fount. The fount, which reads ‘Top Pint’ was delivered today, 4 November, and will now sit proudly on the bar in Kirriemuir, reminding everyone who drinks there of the Airlie Arms Hotel’s prestigious title.
The Airlie Arms Hotel, which was a derelict building just 18 months ago, is run by Dilys Robertson who has since built it up to include three bars, a restaurant and a function suite with the help of her Father Barry Ewart and sister Nicola Ewart. Barry owns the car dealership across the road, which is how Dilys came upon the building.
Tennent’s unique new fount casings are interchangeable, meaning the brand can produce one-off founts like ‘Top Pint’ for special occasions. Six fount designs are currently available taking cues from Tennent’s iconic branding and advertising campaigns over the years. The new founts are rolling out across Scotland now, and will help the brand’s customers create a real talking point at the heart of their bar.
Dilys Robertson, who runs the Airlie Arms Hotel with her Father and Sister Barry and Nicola Ewart, said:
“We’re so pleased to have been recognised as pouring the best pint in Scotland. When we opened the outlet we never imagined we’d be taking home the title of Scotland’s best pint so soon.
“It’s been a fantastic journey for us building up to three bars, a restaurant and a function suite from what was an abandoned building 18 months ago. The new fount looks great on the bar and we’d like to thank Tennent’s for gifting it to us. We’ll be back to defend our crown next year.”
Claire Arnott, Head of UK Customer Marketing at Tennent’s said: “Congratulations to Dilys and the whole team at the Airlie Arms Hotel. Scotland is renowned for having some of the best pubs in the entire world, so taking home the title of ‘Scotland’s best pint’ is a fantastic achievement. There’s a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication that goes into making a great pub, so we felt it was only right to give the team some additional recognition using our new bespoke fount system.
“We’re incredibly proud of our new founts, which are truly unique to the market. When we decided to update them, we knew we had to bring something exciting that would engage drinkers and further demonstrate our commitment to the Scottish on-trade. We hope the guys at the Airlie Arms enjoy their new fount and congrats again on the award – richly deserved.”
